Power of YouTube

I know this sounds really stupid from a person living in the 21^st century but I am actually amazed at the power of YouTube! I mean stuff like “Hide yo’ wife,” “Charlie bit me,” and “Kick my ask” are just SOME of the famous things that people all over the world know about just because of YouTube.

These one-liners aren’t the only things that have become famous because of YouTube but there are various singers, chefs and makeup artists that have actually become celebrities because of YouTube.
Boyceavenue’s covers of various hits on YouTube made them a famous band and the number of views for their videos is in millions! In the same way there are many other singers and bands who have found fame in YouTube.

Kandee Johnson is a makeup artists who was struggling in life till a friend of hers asked her to start making videos of her tutorials and posting them on the site. This changed her life and now she’s a world famous makeup artist because of the millions of views she gets!
And who can forget teen sensation Justin Bieber who recently won 4 AMAs had actually been discovered on YouTube by Usher. He was an average boy whose mother started posting videos of him singing and in no time the videos had views in millions and he is now the most talked about teenager in the world!
There are MANY other artists like the ones mentioned above who got famous because of YouTube and I really like that because it’s like a platform where if one doesn’t have the means or the sources to be recognized, then they can post videos and be heard and watched.

Peepli Live

After most of the Indian movies falling flat even with huge stars as the cast, comes a movie with no ‘big names’ but a good content, an Aamir Khan production, Peepli Live.

Peepli Live is a movie that takes you in the lives of Indian living below the poverty line. It focuses on the lives of farmers of India. Farming contributes to the Indian economy and in this movie, some shocking facts about the lives of farmers are revealed.  

The story revolves around two residents of the village of Peepli, Natha and his brother Budhia.  The brothers lose their family land to the bank since they are unable to repay their loan which makes them beg the local politician, Bhai Thakur for help. Bhai Thakur not only insults them but one of his cronies also mockingly tells the brothers about the existence of a government policy that gives monetary benefit to farmers who decide to give their lives. Natha and Budhia take this idea seriously and Budhia gets Natha to volunteer to commit suicide for the family. A local reporter hears them talking about it and writes a story about it in his newspaper. He also manages to convince an English Channel reporter, Nandita Malik to cover his story. She breaks the news on her channel and in this way other channels rush to cover Natha’s suicide story.

This movie basically tells the reality about the lives of farmers and also how stories can affect a politician’s seat in the local elections. It also shows how the media takes up a story and makes it something huge. The competition shown among the news channels is what we see today. It shows the life of reporters who run after a story to get their channel the ratings. The story may or may not be important but it is something that is MADE important because the media creates such hype. The politicians’ blame game; how they start blaming each other or a party blaming another party was also portrayed in a very real way.

Overall, a real good movie, Anusha Rizvi and Aamir Khan score high in the casting as well! Natha’s character was played beautifully. Indian art movies never disappoint the viewers because the cast adds so much more to the movie coming off as realistic.

The Holocaust Fraud

I seriously wish everyone would just stop saying how Hitler or the Germans killed 6 million Jews because that didn’t really happen. Hitler did kill Jews but not 6 million of them because 6 million is actually an exaggerated figure.  An extremely exaggerated one.

Historians can be biased and it has been proved that many books and articles written on the Holocaust have been discredited because they were full of lies. I’m not saying that the Holocaust was right and it was good that so many Jews died. What I don’t like is the way it has been exaggerated. I also thought Hitler had killed 6 million Jews till I researched about the Holocaust last semester for a term paper. The facts that I went through amazed me. The ‘personal accounts’ of many people that are up on the Jewish sites are all made up. I can write a story and submit it to the site saying “my grandmother wrote and she experienced the Holocaust”.

There are many claims that have been discredited like the staggering figure of 6 million Jews being killed. It is believed that in 1942, a Jewish newspaper had it mentioned in one of its articles that the total number of Jews in Germany is 3 million. I don’t get how can 6 million Jews die if only 3 million lived in Germany? Also, Jews weren’t the only ones killed. There were other minorities too and the Red Cross report published in 1979 says that 271,704 people died. Also, the thing about many concentration camps has been proved false and many places that have been mentioned that had those camps don’t even exist.

I’m not saying Jews weren’t killed but its funny how there’s a ‘Holocaust Museum’ in almost every state of America that has pictures and personal accounts from the time of the Holocaust. This is only done by Americans to support Jews and to portray a negative image of Germans. Most of the historians are biased and I’m glad there are many books written to clear the facts about the Holocaust and what really happened.
