I couldn’t agree more. Tomorrow is Bakra Eid and honestly, the city did not feel even close to dead. It took me 45 minutes just to get to gulf because of traffic and took me another 15 minutes to get to Uzma from there again because of the traffic. Although there are serious safety issues in the city now because recently the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi and the CID office near PIDC had been bombed (which was heard and felt almost everywhere in the city) but the citizens clearly love their city way too much because there were hundreds of aunties at Uzma waiting in lines for their turn to get mehndi. Malls were full of people too. It seemed like a normal night before Eid ul Adha. The enthusiasm and the ‘life’ in the citizens of Karachi are definitely worth applauding!
It makes me happy to see that Karachiites love their city way too much to let terrorists take control of it. We really can’t stand the city because of the bombings, power failures etc but we have a love and hate relationship with it that actually is almost impossible to understand. We really can’t live with or without it.
