17 people (so far) have been killed and over 150 injured in the blast that took place at the CID centre in Karachi. 170 flats and many quarters have also been affected. The blast shook almost the entire city as it was heard and felt far off. The blast caused tremors measured 1.3 on the Richter Scale. It left a 28-feet long, 23-feet wide and 12-feet deep crater, according to the investigation team probing the incident. This was somewhat like the blast at Marriott Islamabad.
The question is who do we blame now? I am sure the police can’t stop each and every vehicle on the road to check if there’s a ‘suicide bomber’ or if it’s filled with ‘explosives’ or not. The thing is it’s the policemen who lose their lives when they try to stop them just when they’re ready to blow up. My point is that even when they’re stopped, they still blow up. How can we call it a security lapse then?
Why doesn’t our security try to track where they come from instead of stopping them at the metal detectors or the security checkpoints? Why can’t they go to places where the explosives are given to them or made? Why do we always to say ‘tighten security at places like police offices and shrines because they’re not safe’ when we know that the terrorists will still blow themselves up even if they’re stopped at the gate!
