Why has Pakistani cricket become a joke?

We are one nation who has seen it ALL in cricket. To add more to it, the match winning run scorer, Zulqarnain Haider decides to just disappear from his hotel at the dawn of the day of the final against South Africa.
I honestly don’t know who to blame now; the president of the country, the president of PCB and its management or the players of the team. It has come to a point where all we’re left with is the question WHAT MORE IS THERE?
Our cricket has now OFFICIALLY become a joke for the entire world. I’m sure the Indian media is having a good time making fun of all these stupid things our players decide to do with their lives.
The wicketkeeper’s words on his facebook page were: ‘leaving pakistan cricket because get bad msg fr 1 man fr lose the match in last game.’ Zulqarnain claims he’s been getting ‘death threats’ and that’s why he wants the government to provide security for his family. He has taken retirement from International Cricket.
I personally think the guy is making it all up. I don’t know but I just feel the whole thing is ‘made up’. He should have informed the management about it instead of running away like that. He has a messed up brain because he’s giving weird statements to news channels like “I’ve been very brave with all the threats I’ve been getting”
Yea, right. Thanks Zulqarnain for making it all look like a big fat joke and giving international media yet another opportunity to make fun of us.

Say no to Mathira: Ban vulgarity not art

I absolutely love this post because FINALLY there is someone who writes about what I feel. I am one of the unfortunate ones who have experienced what it feels like watching the show and honestly, it comes after midnight for a reason because it surely is something that one can’t watch with family.
It’s not about ‘freedom’ or ‘art’ because what she portrays is vulgarity. Just that. She yells at callers who comment on her clothing and honestly speaking, I don’t really care about what she wears but what really bothers me is how she talks and her gestures that are so cheaply inviting to all the men who watch her. The kind of men who watch her clearly come from a very low socio-economic background because they sound like drugged or drunk truck drivers. And what she has to say after every call (no matter who it is) is, “Gooji gooji darling love you muuaah!” IS SHE SERIOUS?! Most of the times she just seems drunk and again, I wouldn’t have a problem with it if only she could just stop with all those cheap inviting gestures!
I agree that we’re not really progressing if we promote people like her. I mean it’s not being open-minded when it comes to her it’s just plain vulgarity that won’t really help us progress in any way.

I WANT CANDY

So I typed “Smokey eye-make up how to” in YouTube’s search engine and after watching 8094093049 useless (yes, I said it) videos I came across a tutorial on Megan Fox’ smokey eye and I said to myself WHOA this has to be a must watch! I clicked on it only to know the girl doing it is going to be my role model/counselor/my make-up guru. Yes, Kandee Johnson- People in LA know her as a make-up artist but most of us know her as Kandee the YouTube Queen, not only is she the best makeup guru on the YouTube community but she could be your best friend, your guidance counselor and your life saver (literally) after doing a story on a dying undiagnosed girl & got over a million responses and help for her (I was one of the well wishers). Starting her channel in January 2009, she has posted more than 200 videos & acquired more than 400,000 subcribers & has approximately 70 million views (or more). For the last two years she started doing these incredible seminars called Glaminars, these Glaminars are not JUST about learning make-up but on how to make your dreams happen, giving your confidence a much needed boost & then comes make-up tricks. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten a chance to attend one of her Glaminars but from what I’ve heard these are “life changing experience” & “everyone MUST attend AT LEAST one of the Glaminars to start believing in yourself more than you already do”. This is exactly how Kandee spreads her joy on YouTube channel it’s never just about make-up (as much as I hate to say that) it’s also about break-up boot camps, baking cupcakes & fancy home-made scrub recipes for Adriana Lima’s red carpet glow. How awesome is that? Pretty Awesome!
What people say to/about Kandee?

Kandee, I would just like to tell you, that you are my inspiration. I admire all you do. You are a very talented individual. What a sweet and thoughtful person you are, to share your knowledge and feelings with everyone! Thank you so much for making all of your wonderful videos. They are so much fun, very informative and without a doubt encouraging. If it wasn't for you, I would have never found a new confidence in myself and the things I love! I truly think you are special. Thank you for sharing a part of you, so I could find a part of myself I didn’t realize was there. Now I can make all my dreams come true!” – Julie

“Kandee! Thanks for being a ray of sunshine on youtube.” – Katrina

“Kandee, you are my role model. ♥” - Diana

Kandee says and I quote, “You're more beautiful than you know, more talented than you think, and more loved than you can imagine”- This just makes my day!

Heroes!

It’s strange how two individuals from different nations can achieve something through a tournament that the governments of those nations haven’t been able to achieve even though they’ve spent years and lots of money trying to ‘negotiate’ through conferences etc.
The two individuals are Aisam-ul-Haq and Rohan Boppana, two tennis players from Pakistan and India who have managed to show us what India and Pakistan can together achieve if they look beyond their rivalry or differences. They have in fact proved it to us not in fancy suits and conferences but on a tennis court!
We have seen how cricket and hockey have been letting us down but Aisam proves it to us that with hard work and courage, Pakistanis can actually do something so incredible that would will look up to them regardless of what our image has become due to the challenges Pakistan faces. Who would have thought that a tennis player.. YES! A TENNIS PLAYER COULD DO SUCH A THING FOR PAKISTAN! We don’t even give tennis that much importance but this teaches us that it’s about time! The government needs to invest in tennis, football etc and not just cricket and hockey.
Aisam and Bopanna are heroes! They make both India and Pakistan proud! Both are winners in my books!

Substance Abuse is NOT a Source of Entertainment

Being a celebrity gossip addict, I have observed in the past couple of years that the media is giving way too much attention to substance abuse (or alleged substance abuse) which includes alcohol and drug problems
Stars like Lindsay Lohan (she tops the list nowadays), Amy Winehouse, Courtney Love, and Tara Reid etc have mostly been in the news because of their substance abuse problems. Some of the stars like Britney Spears seem to be coming back on track but some like Lindsay Lohan are still struggling with the problem.
What I don’t seem to understand is that why do people know about a shaven-head of a crazy celebrity (Britney Spears) or when Lindsay Lohan passed out at a party even before their families know about it? Whenever a celebrity does something that is unusual the media and the people are all over it. Why don’t they understand that those celebrities are humans too? They can’t ALWAYS act like ‘role models’. I do understand that some celebrities get involved in crazy behavior for media attention or publicity but it is NOT always the case. Issues like alcohol or drug abuse have proved to be fatal for celebrities like Jim Morrison and Marilyn Monroe.
It’s not only media that is to blame, the public is equally a part of this because the media just wants money and will show anything that will get them ratings. I love it when they show celebrities going to college, buying stuff or spending time with family.
I don’t think I would want a picture of a drunk celebrity flipping off the camera. I don’t find making fun of and commenting at pictures that shows humans troubled with substance abuse. I don’t find that ‘entertaining’ and I don’t think any sane person would want that to be a part of the entertainment section. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t publish news like substance abuse or court hearings about celebrities but it should be done in a sympathetic way and must show some kind of human compassion but we know that is NEVER the case.
I don’t know what substance abuse is like but I do know that a person going through it is in a dark, hopeless place and wants to get out of it. If the media goes on talking about them like this then they’d just want more of substance abuse because it is a form of escape from reality for them. Media makes their lives worse.
I’m not saying let’s stop being interested in their lives what I want everyone to do is that just for a second try putting yourself in their (celebrities’) shoes. Let’s think for a minute what it actually could be that made such a rich (usually rich) person turn to alcohol or drug abuse? Lets feel for a minute what it must feel like to watch a loved one destruct himself/herself and on top of that the whole world ‘enjoys’ reading about/watching it in the ‘entertainment’ part of the news.
